Geoff is a recognized expert in sustainable urbanism and urban design.  Through his progressive work on the reform of outdated land use and transportation regulations, he has emerged an accomplished leader in the application of form based codes and the SmartCode. His pragmatic approach to implementing mixed use, walkable urbanism along with the broader goals of Smart Growth has achieved great success in the often difficult balance between municipal, public, and industry interests.

For the past several years, Geoff has founded and managed a successful Calgary-based urban design practice including a founding partnership with Civic Design Group in 2003, a predecessor to T-Six Urbanists formed in 2005. Currently Geoff is a Principal and Lead Urban Designer for U.S. based PlaceMakers, LLC, and in late 2009 relaunched T-Six Urbanists as Placemakers Canada.

Geoff is a contributor to, the host of, is a regular instructor and presenter for the SmartCode workshop, and lectures widely on Form Based Codes and sustainable urbanism. He holds a Master in Urban Design from the University of Calgary, is a Knight Fellow in Community Building from the University of Miami, and holds dual citizenship in the U.S. and Canada. Geoff is an accredited member of the Congress for the New Urbanism and a charter member of the Council for Canadian Urbanism.
