Brandt is an Architect, Realtor®, and musician. His design work emphasizes classical, traditional, and vernacular architectural vocabularies within the context of traditional neighborhoods. He maintains an abiding passion for humanist design, is an active student of timeless architecture throughout the world, and is a LEED certified practitioner for sustainable and energy efficient design.
Brandt began his career designing waterfront estates on Lake Michigan as a partner in his first company, Hibler & Hay. He later accepted a position as an Associate at Geoffrey Mouen Architects, where he diversified his body of design work to include a diverse mix of typologies, scales, and local contexts. This work included custom residential design, urban master planning, and design review for a variety of New Urban neighborhoods. Since establishing his independent practice he has maintained a diverse project mix, with a portfolio that includes custom single-family residences, affordable housing, and commercial work.
He is an active member of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art Florida Chapter's board of advisers, and serves as the lead architect on the Celebration Architectural Review Board. As producer of the New Urban Architect Podcast, he is passionate about helping spread the ideas of New Urbanism's leading architects to fellow architects and designers.
Brandt holds a Master of Architecture degree from Andrews University. He is a licensed Architect and Realtor® in the State of Florida, and a Certified Member of the National Council of Architectural Accreditation Boards (NCARB).
