Andrew von Maur is a freelance designer and teacher at Andrews University's School of Architecture. Besides leading courses in architectural design and urbanism, he directs the school's Urban Design Studio, which has been recognized with three Charter Awards of Excellence by the Congress for the New Urbanism. This annual graduate studio, which collaborates with leading professionals in the field, exists to serve communities with useful town planning and architectural solutions. Originally from Germany, Andrew has studied architecture throughout Europe and the United States and directs the School of Architecture's European Study Program. As a freelance professional, he has extensive charrette experience as a lead designer of traditional urban places, particularly in collaboration with Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company. Winner of the Ferguson & Shamamian Prize for Excellence in Classical Design, he holds a graduate degree in architectural design and urbanism from the University of Notre Dame.
